What is LoRaWAN?

LoRaWAN stands for Long Range Wide Area Network. It is a wireless communication protocol specifically designed for IoT sensors. The core concept: sending small amounts of data over long distances with minimal power consumption.

In plain English: your sensor sends a small message a few times an hour to a gateway (a small box you mount somewhere). That gateway forwards it to your dashboard via the internet. That's all.

The difference with Wi-Fi or 4G? LoRaWAN travels much further (up to 15 km in open fields, through multiple concrete floors in buildings), consumes far less power (batteries last 3 to 10 years), and costs significantly less per sensor.
